Owen Kessler spent seven years running the warehouse floor for a regional distributor before he ever touched a moving truck. He knew how to sequence a load, how to protect freight that couldn’t be replaced, and how to keep a schedule honest. In 2015 he moved into residential moving, and what he saw bothered him: Boca Raton families paying deposits to outfits that never showed up with a truck. In 2016 he founded Safe Passage Moving & Storage to fix that — a company that answers its own phone, sends its own crew, and stands behind its own price.

Still Hands-On, By Design

Ten years and hundreds of moves later, Owen still does the walkthrough himself on condo jobs with tight elevator windows — the moves where a missed reservation or a wrong gate code can cost a family half a day. It’s not because the office can’t handle it. It’s because those are the jobs where a founder’s judgment still matters more than a checklist.

The Team Behind the Trucks

Office manager Priscilla Vance has been with Safe Passage since 2019 and confirms every elevator reservation, HOA move-in window, and gate code before a truck is ever put on the schedule. Crew chief Xavier Holt, with the company since 2018, runs our long-distance lanes to Orlando, Tampa, Atlanta, and Charlotte and trains every new hire on furniture wrapping and load sequencing. Crew chief Dominic Farrow, who joined in 2021, runs our local Palm Beach County jobs and the condo and gated-community bookings that need an extra layer of coordination.

Between the two offices and the two crew chiefs, we run 8 trucks and employ 12 people directly — no subcontracted labor, ever. Every mover on our trucks is a W-2 employee who trained under Xavier or Dominic.

Licensed, Insured, and On the Record

Safe Passage carries our own FDACS intrastate mover registration and federal US DOT/MC authority, with $1M in cargo coverage on every load we carry. We serve Boca Raton and the surrounding Palm Beach County suburbs — Delray Beach, Boynton Beach, Deerfield Beach, Coconut Creek, Parkland, and Wellington — along with long-distance routes to Orlando, Tampa, Atlanta, and Charlotte.

Quick Answers Before You Book Your Date

Why did Owen start this company instead of just working for an existing mover?▾

He spent years watching moving companies in Boca Raton take deposits and never send a truck. After running warehouse logistics for a regional distributor, he had the operational background to do it right, so in 2016 he started Safe Passage instead of joining another outfit that might repeat the same pattern.

Does the owner actually show up on jobs, or is that just marketing?▾

Owen personally handles the walkthrough on condo moves with tight elevator windows — the jobs where a bad reservation or the wrong access code can blow a whole afternoon. Day-to-day, Xavier and Dominic run the crews, but Owen stays close to the jobs that need his judgment.

Do you cover areas outside Boca Raton itself?▾

Yes. Our local crews regularly work Delray Beach, Boynton Beach, Deerfield Beach, Coconut Creek, Parkland, and Wellington, and our long-distance lane runs to Orlando, Tampa, Atlanta, and Charlotte.

Why Boca Raton Families Choose Safe Passage

The Same Set of Eyes Prices It and Answers For It Later

Priscilla Vance reviews your inventory — by phone, video, or photos you send over — before a not-to-exceed number goes on paper, so the person who quoted your move is still on the line after the truck pulls away.

Twelve People, Eight Trucks, Nobody Borrowed

Every mover on a Safe Passage Moving & Storage truck is a W-2 employee we hired and trained ourselves — no gig-app labor gets added to your crew on move day.

Ask to See the Paperwork and We’ll Show You

Our FDACS registration and our own federal DOT and MC authority are on file before you ever ask — no placeholder numbers, just the real certificate the moment you want to see it.

June Through November Is Already on the Calendar

Every quote written during hurricane season carries a no-charge reschedule window, because a Palm Beach County mover plans around storm advisories instead of hoping one doesn’t land on moving day.

Dominic Calls the Building Before the Truck Does

Elevator reservations and gate codes get confirmed with the property days ahead, so a thirty-minute HOA window doesn’t turn into a lobby full of furniture and a stalled elevator.

Every Truck Leaves the Yard Stocked the Same Way

Furniture pads, shrink wrap, hand trucks, and floor runners load onto all eight trucks before the first job starts, so no crew improvises with whatever’s left from yesterday.

The Awkward Parts Get Priced Before the Truck Leaves Boca Raton

A third-floor unit with one elevator in Delray Beach, a gated entry in Wellington, the extra miles out to Parkland — it’s folded into the flat rate before you sign, not tacked on once the crew is standing in your driveway.

A $250 Deposit That Actually Comes Back

Your deposit is refundable if a storm advisory, a closing delay, or a change of plans moves your date — Xavier just re-issues the same rate against the new one.

One Crew Chief, Coast to Coast on Your Lane

Xavier Holt prices and runs the Orlando, Tampa, Atlanta, and Charlotte lanes himself, and the crew that loads your driveway in Boca Raton is the one standing in the new driveway when the truck backs in.

What Recent Customers Are Saying

Posted exactly as Palm Beach County customers wrote them — nothing polished, nothing cut on our end.

Dominic had the gate code and a guest-parking pass sorted with our HOA two days before move day, so the truck wasn’t sitting at the call box while our slot ticked away.

A tropical storm watch pushed our Tampa move back four days and the quote didn’t move a dollar — same crew, same truck, just a different Monday.

Third floor, one elevator, a thirty-minute reservation window — they had our two-bedroom loaded with six minutes still on the clock.

Our closing got pushed back twice and everything sat in their storage unit for five weeks, climate-controlled, and came off the truck without so much as a torn label.

They wrapped the china cabinet and boxed the kitchen the same week a storm was still just a cone on the news — corner guards on every doorway, days before it mattered.
